This Week at the Farm Stand and Market
"Bee Friendly Day" was a success!

Thank you for everyone who came by the farm to learn all about the honeybees and how important they are to all of us. We hope you had fun listening to our speakers and bringing the children to paint, pollinate, and dance like bees.

In keeping with our honeybee theme, we are happy to report that it is finally summer harvesting time for our own Crossroads Farm honeybees! You can now purchase a jar of our delicious, golden raw honey at the farm stand.

Fresh from the farm:
This week, we are featuring a bounty of our own, organic vegetables!
Zucchini, radicchio, string beans, carrots, summer squash, arugula, broccoli, yellow fin squash, northern pickling cucumbers, market cucumbers, komatsuna (an Asian green), kale, swiss chard, and cherry tomatoes.

We also have plenty of Long Island sweet summer corn from Rottkamp's Fox Hollow Farm in Calverton, so you can continue to eat seasonally and locally!

Fresh from the greenhouse:
We are still featuring our mixed pots of herbs and vegetables.

We also have a variety of seedlings from you to choose from for your home garden:
Eggplant, king crimson peppers, dino kale, fordhook giant swiss chard, shallot, mammoth Long Island dill, munstead lavender, common sage, basil, thyme, common mint, Italian flat leaf parsley, lemongrass, and rosemary.

New to the farm stand this week:
We are featuring a few exciting new items in the store, including Earth's Best flushable and hypoallergenic baby wipes, honey sticks (yum!), adorable agriculturally themed children's books, and kelp noodles. For those who are unaware, kelp noodles are a great fat free, cholesterol free, very low calorie pasta alternative; they would make a great addition to any of your favorite pasta or noodle recipes!

Our farmer's market this week:
This week's farmer's market will feature our familiar vendors selling homemade hummus and scones, fresh and local honey, jams, and spreads, pickled products, assorted pound cakes, handmade soaps, energy bars, artisan breads and cheeses, and of course a variety of fresh produce from Sep's Family Farm and right here at Crossroads Farm.

Due to a successful last week, Lithology Brewing Company will be back this week to sell their local craft beer. They will also be attending our folk festival scheduled for Sunday August 16th. There will be more information once the date gets closer.
