All The Best for 2016

December 31, 2015

All of Us at Crossroads farm wish you and yours the very best for 2016!

We are most grateful for all the support we have received this year from you and everyone in the farm community: volunteers, donors, contributors of goods and expertise, and our dedicated staff! And most of all thanks to you and all in our community who have helped make 2015 a succcess, whether through donations, store patronage, attending events, or participating in some other way.

2016 is upon us and so are the challenges we face every year. We also depend on financial support from our friends and supporters. Did you know it costs $6500 per year to feed our animals? Our electric bill is $1500 per month during the farming season. We need to pay for water, farm supplies, seeds, and maintenance. We receive no financial support from Nassau County or any other source of public funding. A farm is an expensive operation to support. We depend on your help -- and every little bit counts.

It's not too late to make a tax deductible donation in 2015. Donations of any size are warmly appreciated. For donations of $50 or more, we will send you a Crossroads t-shirt to show our appreciation. When you make your donation, also select a shirt in the size of your choice.

Another Way to Donate!

We want to build and this can happen with your help and support! Our architectural plans have been drawn up. We have the location plotted. We have the will -- and of course, we have a pressing need to get this project underway! This building will be more than just a set of restrooms -- it will include a warming kitchen which means the events everyone enjoys at the farm will be greatly enhanced. Think of how this will enable us to handle on-site, professional food handling and preparation. Think of how visitors of all kinds -- school children, volunteers, hard-working farm staff -- will enjoy the facility year round.

This building is the foundation for our future growth. We hope to build in 2016, and this represents the first phase of our strategic plan for growth. In a later phase, we envision an education center offering year-round space for student class rooms, adult education events, research, and much more!

You may also make contributions in cash in the farm store or by check. Please bring your check to the store or make payable and mail to:

If you have any questions about donating, farm programs, or anything else, please do not hesitiate to reach out to me directly.

Once again, Rick, we want to thank you on behalf of local, community farming and for helping to preserve land in our crowded neighborhood. I look forward to seeing you around the farm!

Sincerely,

Rick White, Chairman, Nassau Land Trust Chairman, Farm Advisory Committee 516-308-1794 rwhite@nassaulandtrust.org
